I really don't know how this place sustains itself. I've tried this place twice now and have been underwhelmed both times. The first time was for a meatball sub, which is patently one of THE simplest sandwiches to make. You heat up your premade meatballs and sauce in a microwave, or spoon them out of the pot, put them on a roll and present it. After waiting for a half hour in a mostly empty restaurant, I got a sandwich with soggy bread and watery sauce. I complained and got a gift coupon for more food. Not what I wanted. I just wanted this sort of nonsense to never happen again. The second time (using the gift coupon) I ordered a pizza to go with feta. I took it home and the feta turned out to be blue cheese. Who the fuck puts blue cheese on a pizza? I took it back, very patiently explained that I got a pizza with blue cheese instead of feta. Ten minutes later I was presented with a pizza with mostly scraped off blue cheese and some dust that appeared to be parmesan cheese on it. I complained about their lazy, uncaring, irresponsible staff and left. I got an apology and more offers for free food, but why would I want that? HUH? Jesus H! Seriously, though; a 4 year old can discern between feta and blue cheese-it's not that freaking hard. Maybe someone needs to come up with a cheese test. I dunno. Let's face it. This "restaurant" is located in metro Detroit--the land of PLENTY in terms of restaurants. St. Clair Shores and the surrounding areas has one of THE largest Italian populations in the city outside of ITALY! If you can't be bothered to make a decent pie, there are so many other options for people to choose from. Now it's POSSIBLE I had two quite randomly bad experiences, but twice bitten....I think not.

I feel sad. I feel sad because I had high hopes for this place. When you walk in and see people in line and you are greeted by some angsty teen who is really pissed she's not out with her BFF's chugging red bulls listening to Ke$ha you know the rest of your time there cannot be good. Who knows maybe she wasn't a teen. either way. BLARG!! She asked my name 4 times. It's BARBIE. Finally I said you know BARBIE like the dolls you play with. I was annoyed sorry. I mean my name is not complicated. So moving on to our 45 min wait and finally getting seated and then once at the table we sat for another 15 mins no waiter/ress to be found. My sweet sweet fella has such patience. Me on the other hand after waiting 45 mins had NONE. Just as I was getting my coat on to leave our waiter finally came and I said lucky for you we are leaving. Should I go back on a not so busy night and actually try the food? I'm thinking about it. But I really hate bad service or lack there of. I don't know. I guess you'll have to stay tuned to find out if we go back. smooches!

The only reason my family of 3 came here was because I received a gift certificate from restaurant.com . It was for $15 off $35, and our bill was still $40 some with tip! I definitely will not be back anytime soon. The French onion soup was ok, not the best I have ever had, and the meals were not very flavorful.

Pepperoni Grill has the worst service ever ... For one the waitress Anessa was not into customer service she don't like black people that was so clear and obvious . They had happy hour special and the only way my family knew was because another waitress told her customers ... Long story short don't be a black customer in this establishment, and I'm so glad my father give her a tip based on what she deserve it should have been a penny to be honest ... I will never step foot in that restaurant again !

Wish it was possible to give 0 out of 5. Found a hair in the pizza. The waitress' logic was that since we ate 80 percent of the pizza that she can only take some off. How are we supposed to know what piece has hair in it?!?! Ridiculous.

Tried this place a few times and felt disappointed each time. The food's blah and the entree portion sizes are ridiculously small for the prices they charge. Too expensive!

I normally wouldn't review a place that I've ordered take-out pizza from, but here it goes. The pizza was ready in 15min (as expected). The inside of the restaurant looked very nice... Like a family style restaurant that was trying to be fancy and cater to a nicer crowd. No complaints there. They seem like very nice people. The pizza was a bit below average. Overall it was okay- the components were there. But paying almost $20 for a large three-topping pie, you'd expect more compared to the local competition. The crust was fine, the pizza was mostly undercooked cheese, and the toppings were thinly applied. The big detractor was the fishy taste... They must have cooked something in the same pan or right next to it. I can't say I'd go back to try a second pizza and their other menu items seemed overpriced for this type of restaurant. I'm glad we tried the Pepperoni Grille, but I'll be getting pizza from elsewhere.

I went here last night for dinner. Here's the breakdown: The good: The place was pretty clean. The waitress and hostess were nice. The antipasto salad, and tomato bisque soup were yummy. My salmon was good. The bad: everything else. They cut a lot of corners here, and it shows. The mashed potatoes were boxed. My daughter ordered fettucini alfredo (her favorite). After her not eating it, I finally tasted it myself - it was AWFUL. Bland, tasteless, gross. We asked for additional sauce, and the sauce itself is where the problem lied - it tasted like warmed milk with flour in it. I asked for antipasto salad with my meal, which I received - at a $6 upcharge they didn't tell me about prior to receiving the bill. Our waitress, while nice, was very, very slow. They have an open kitchen, and we could see the waitstaff and kitchen staff hanging out, talking. For three people, our bill came to $55 - without alcohol or appetizers - and that was after they took my daughter's meal off the bill. I won't be back.

never going back. i am a vegetarian, so i ordered the alfrado (no chicken) the waitress repeated my order correctly... but when she came back there were huge chunks of chicken on my plate. I politely asked her to redo the dish; instead the chicken was picked out, the noodles were mixed around, and the edges of the plate were wiped to make it look like it was redone... not happy with my service or food. Which sucks because i really enjoyed this place in the past...

Awesome pizza, meals have very small portions. Haven't been here in over a year due to terrible service, but decided to give it another try. Waitress this time was very friendly, but wanted to talk with her coworker more then watching for her customers food. My pizza sat for 4-5 minutes before she noticed it was up and when she brought me my extra sauce I requested she brought it out in a small bowl without a saucer so her thumb was stuck in the sauce kinda gross. When leaving with multiple employees by the door not one said have a nice night or thankyou for coming. Our waitress could be very good as she is friendly however I think management/ownership doesn't place a high priority on great customer service as its been this way for at least 4 years.

FYI Vegetarians, stay away from this place, everything is contaminated by meat products, even their vegetarian options. Although they don't state they are a vegetarian friendly place, it's good to know this place doesn't honor their own menu: such as "tomato basil" soup is not only tomato and basil... It's tomato, basil and chicken broth.

Must wonder when you walk into a place at the height of lunch hour ... and the joint's empty. I had the Ahi tuna... good but overpriced. The portion was too small. I always leave with a doggie bag, but I left here still hungry. The booth had very uncomfortable seating and it was cold. The girls and I have many other .. better choices to get together and mangia.

Great stop for pizza and salads and soup. Sandwiches are good as well. Staff is generally friendly and attentive. Also, great bar on other side of dining that is great for watching games.

Disappointed. We tried them with a carry out order, which was not ready when I got there. Had to wait another 15 minutes. Then got home and the food was stone cold, which means our order was ready on time but no one bothered to package it. As far as taste, a little salt would do a whole lotta good. Very bland. All this is sad, because the above issues can easily be fixed. A better alternative? Hit Salvatore Scallopini's down the street.

Have had multiple meals over the last several years. The pasta dishes are usually good. The veal is average. Went recently for a pizza and it was excellent. Wait staff is attentive and the drinks are standard prices.

I've been here two times in the last week, once for pizza and salad with my dad and then tonight for regular dinner fare with both of my parents. The Pizza is pretty good pie. Its not going to blow you away or anything but its certainly better than a lot of the chain places around. We got pepperoni and banana peppers on a large round and we didn't have a problem eating almost all of it. The individual antipasti salad was plenty for two of us and had crisp lettuce and good chucks of meat, cheese and tomato. The regular Italian dressing is okay but if you get vinegar and oil they have a respectable balsamic. Like I said, went back with the folks and had food off the menu and all 3 of us were happy with the chicken dishes we ordered. The calamari was a good app as well. The only thing holding it back a bit was the pricing, as dinner for 3 of us with an app and 3 coffee's after the meal was just over 70 bucks with no alcohol. That's just too high. $11.99 for the calamari should have been about $7 and $2.75 for coffee/each is just silly. Overall the food was good as was the service we got from Ashley, if they dropped the prices a little bit I'd likely eat here more often. Really probably 3-1/2 stars due to the pricing but the food we all ate was good. Related, the pricing for the pizza isn't bad and is on par for restaurant pie in the area.

Will not be going back to Pepperoni Grill. Ordered a small sq. with cheese for the kids and was expecting a nice Detroit style square. What we received was a flat round in the shape of a square? Huh? The round pepperoni that I ordered for me and wife was swimming in grease. Even though the crust was good it was still very greasy. Manager came by and asked if everything was okay? He offered another pizza. This one was a flatbread with less cheese and pepperoni. Beer was NOT cold at all. Spent almost $50 on a few bad pizzas and warm beer. The only reason for two stars is the attempt to make another pizza. $20 bucks off would have been better than more bad pizza.

Just wanted to update since visiting in April. Went on Sat. night and the place was hopping. Sat at the bar watching the hockey game. drinks were good and fast as the bartender Donna was spot on. Decided to give the kitchen a something besides pizza order from their newer menu. I had the Veal Marsala and it was very very good. Three nice medallions of veal in a nice, not to heave marsala sauce. The only thing bringing it down was canned mushrooms not fresh. I noticed the woman sitting next to me had ordered the seared ahi tuna and asked her how it tasted. She said very good fresh tuna cooked medium rare with a nicely spiced crust. Seems they have read the poor reviews and stepped up their game.

Pepperoni Grille is one of those places I've driven past a million times but have never gone to. Until a couple days ago, when a girlfriend and I met up there for lunch. The decor & atmosphere were nice. Clean, classic...but nothing to write home about. I was surprised to see only one other table of diners when we walked in. Most places around there do a decent lunch crowd. The menu is small. There were some good looking sandwiches, pizza, and only a handful of entrees. My friend got a chicken pesto sandwich, I ordered gnocchi. I spent the whole time I was eating my lunch wishing I had ordered what she had. The sauce for my gnocchi was good, but it was a pretty small portion and the gnocchi were a bit overcooked. Despite it being a ghost town in the dining room, the waitress sometimes took a long time to bring something to our table. She was attentive to refilling our drinks, but forgot a couple of side items we had asked for, and took about 10 minutes to bring a dessert menu (which consists of only 3 items). Sandwiches are $7-10, entrees $10-12. It's not the worst lunch I've ever had, but I'm certainly in no hurry to go back.

I have only had carry-out from here so I'm not sure how the actual dining experience would go. Their pizza is good and their sandwiches are as well. It can take a while to get your food, but I don't really have any complaints.

Iv been here 2 x and enjoyed it, the prices are a little high for me ( always used the entertainment coupon ) service is great, the decor is nice and the food id Delicious, I had the ribs and french fries ( fantastic by the way ) the person I was with had the fish and very much enjoyed it, the only thing that bothered me this time was that they had someone bleaching the tiles on the ceiling and was in the kitchen area, and I notice that the soup cups were right below it, not covered, then the cleaning person seen me looking in the soup cup area and stoped and then covered them up, is it a big deal ? maybe maybe not, the question is would I return because of that, probably, as long as I have a coupon, * UPDATE * Today 4-5-13 I had their Meatball Sandwich on Cibata ( ? ) bread and it was fantastic.

You might wonder how they do as good of a trade as they do, but the East Side is starved for restaurants so anything at all will fill up with customers. I've been there twice. I really don't know why I returned but my last time there I ordered the Philly steak sandwich and I'm not saying I expected it be like from Philly, I'm not from Philly, but I didn't expect bacon. Did I mention that was my last time there?

So my Work crew and I ordered out from here. All of us had nothing but great things to say about our food. I had the calamari...It was fantastic! Perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. The bruchetta appetizer was delicious as well. I could seriously eat it every day! Everyone else had similar praises...and we are a picky bunch. I read the other reviews and was dumbfounded. I don't see a problem with the food? Ours was hot, and it was carry out? Small menu's are OK if the food is done well and the flavour is on. If I could have the perfect world I'd get you to move onto the west side so that I could eat there all the time. Im sad You are far away from me:(

This restaurant is fantastic! The tomato basil soup makes you dream about coming back for more . Over many visits have tried all the pizzas, chicken. Marsala, ravioli and salads, all delicious. Dress casual and can. Sit at the bar or family side with 5 star dining. Staff are attentive and personable you must try it!

Was out this way the other week visiting friends, and along came that usual topic anytime you are in a group of friends. "Hey, anyone hungry?" Everyone says yes, no one has a suggestion where to eat. We start driving, and I received a notification on my mobibo app about this place. I ask everyone in the car if they have ever tried it or heard of it, a mix of no's and yes's. So i ask if we should try it, I get some okays. We walk in, its a 10 minute wait on a early Thursday night. Now, we missed happy hour by a slight variance due to it being a reverse happy hour. Something we were not aware of, but we will come after 8 p.m. next time. No big deal. We sit down, order our drinks and decide to split a large pizza. Now, I am actually amazed my friends and I had our stuff together for once and ordered quikcly, without a return trip by the waitress. It seemed only like a few minutes later, we had our pizza, and it was pretty good. Good size for a large, nice amount of toppings, and hey it was a BBQ chicken pizza, so your really not going to hear me complain at all. Smokey, a hint of BBQ and not too many onions where I couldn't tell there was bacon or anything else but onions and BBQ on it. Good to me! It was pretty good service. If I had one gripe about this place, it may have been the price. I drove so I got the cheap seats, but I am pretty sure for a pizza and 2 beers per person, we were well over 50 bucks. Again, I can't remember correctly, but for pizza and beers that seems a bit high. Ah well, no worries. Was a good experience, so maybe according to these other reviews I just got lucky!

I am very surprised to see all the negative feedback about this place. I have only been here once, and my overall experience and meal was excellent! The group of four I was with were seated quickly, our waitress was attentive but did not hover. The bread was very good and we went through a second basket. We ordered a bottle of wine that was brought out and served promptly. The waitress did admit wine was "not her thing" so her pouring was not the best, but I wasn't going there for the wine. The entree I had was excellent. It was a thinner 12 layer lasagna and had more of a tomato-cream sauce on top. In melted in my mouth and was delicious! I put my fork down several times to slow down and savor it, but ended up digging right back in! I went there to spend a Groupon and will return with or without one!

First of all never had a bad meal since new owners took over. Bar crowd is great. We have made a lot of new friends there. Canned mushrooms I do not think so. Only fresh used here. Garlic chicken served over a bed of spinach is my favorite. Bartenders Donna and Sue remember your name and drink of choice Wine list is great and changes every 6 months or so. All the bread you can eat with the best Marinara sauce on east side. Great apps and half off after 8 pm. And did I mention. The mussels the best in area.

This is one of our favorite restaurants. It is local, so it's close to our house and the food is always great. The service is always fast and the wait staff is friendly. I highly recommend this place if you like good food at a good price! We're going there for Mother's Day!

I've eaten here a few times, and every time I've had good experiences. The pizza has always been good, maybe not the best pizza but 10x better than chain pizza's or cici's pizza's. The service has been ok for the most part each time I've been there. When I'm in the area and am craving a pizza, I try to go there. I'd give it a try if you've never been there.

This place is hit or miss. They always give out complementary bread and sauce but the sauce is cold and tastes like a dirty dish rag. The spinach artichoke dip is very good but the portion is so small. I've had some of their vegetarian friendly pizzas and they weren't bad.

Dined for lunch at Pepperoni Grille Thursday January15, 2010. The decor, layout and setting were very nice and ample parking. We ordered pizza(their specialty) and were not impressed; it was rather bland, on the small size and very uninteresting. Too top it off, it was served luke warm. The sandwich that was served was on the bland, small and uninteresting side. The waitress was a bit on the "curt" side I wished I had saved my money and eaten home.
Very disappointing. I ordered a carryout pizza and the waitress by mistake delivered my pizza to the wrong table. After she realized it was a mistake she took it back to the kitchen to put it into a box to serve it to me! Really? She said it was untouched and I should be fine! Yuck! I don't think so.

Absolutely putrid. I ordered a recommended "Chef's Special." It was a salmon dish with a "delicious dill sauce." It was $25 and it was a piece of boiled or baked, very bland unseasoned salmon that was obviously frozen, with plain greek style yogurt on it. Absolutely disgusting. I complained to the waitress about it, which I never do, and all she did was argue back and said everyone else loved it. I won't be going back.

Been here many times and always like the pasta, chicken, veal, and seafood dishes. We really like the calamari. Never tried the pizza until recently but it was pretty good. Four stars instead of five because sometimes the beer is a bit flat or the food is a little cold.

Love the bread basket and pizza dough, some of the best in town along with the dipping sauce. Order it well done and you will not be disappointed. Clean and friendly atmosphere with good service, definitely easy to become a regular here. They also have an amazing homemade soup selection for all those chilly months that is perfect for take out to get cozy at home after a long day.

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Good, basic Italian offerings. I like their pizza (thin) and salads. Friendly service.

I've only had the pizza flip here and I really like it. So don't come at me bro.

Last night was the first time that our group had dinner at Pepperoni Grille in SCS, Michigan. We were all very pleased with the quality and flavor of the food and the service was awesome. I had the small Michigan salad (yummy) and the garlic chicken with fresh green beans, my fiancée' had the chicken parm, my cousin had the tilapia (she loved it) with fresh mashed potatoes and her husband had the fried lake perch with fries. We all said we would keep this on our list of places to return to. I enjoyed it more than Ondiamo's is SCS or Sterling heights. (8) drinks and (4) entrees and the bill was $100.00 (not bad at all). After reading older post I wasn't sure if it was a good idea to try it out, but to my pleasant surprise I was very pleased. So, I guess we have to be our own judge of what is good or not so good. I am happy we gave it a try and you should too!! Carmen Roseville - Karl SCS-Josette & Scott SCS
